4 out of 5 stars works well   March 8, 2010

Got it for our home office. A good buy for $199 when I bought it in Mar 2009. It's easy enough to set up and print quality is good. 2 complains I have, 1) as I have no long distance carrier on my home phone we use phone cards or cell phone for long distance calls. I can't seem to figure out how to dial with a phone card with the fax function. 2) the printer started telling me toner low pretty soon. I have no idea how many pages I gone through already but I just ignored it for a while until one day it finally said toner out... then I used the trick posted by one of the reviewer here and now it's printing great! seems like they are trying to rip us off by getting us replace toner before it's really out!

4 out of 5 stars Everything but....   March 7, 2010

I was disappointed to find this machine, despite its moderate cost, does not do duplex printing automatically (only hand feed!). And this is not made explicit anywhere I could find in the manual or PR material. I wasted a lot of time looking for a clarification when I first got it. Otherwise, it's fine. Does the job without fuss. Easy install.Brother MFC-7840W Laser Multifunction Center with Wireless and Ethernet Network Interfaces

5 out of 5 stars The best small printer   March 3, 2010

This is the best printer I have ever used. It's fast, easy to use, has all the features you need. This is mono chrome so not go for photo but for everything else it's the best!

It took a while to get the printer connected over a network to our Mac stations but once we were able to figure it out, its been working like a charm. Only downside is the cost of ink. After six months of modest printing already had to replace the cartridge. Its also not I would call petite or stylish, other than that no complaints

5 out of 5 stars An excellent purchase!   February 19, 2010

- Connects to your network either by wire or wireless
- Can print from any computer on the network (minimal software install)
- Can copy
- Can scan and send the scanned file to a specific computer (full software install)
- Can send and receive faxes ... including from computer

All for $250! Unbelievable!!

Set up of the printer on the my wireless network which is WEP took <15 minutes. Additional 30 minutes for setup on one laptop with all software. Additional 10 minutes each to set up my other computers, where I just used "Add a Network Printer ..." wizard and put the CD in for picking up the driver. So far, I have not tested the FAX function.

I have not noticed any power glitches/problems as others have mentioned, but I did place this printer in a dedicated wall socket across from other things just in case.
