Don't buy March 9, 2010 KAL We recently purchased this product for our small business. The paper feed would jamb with the amount of paper that it is supposed to hold. The print quality was terrible, the scan quality was absolutely terrible. It would jamb/freeze for no reason. There was a long delay, the printing was slow, and it was loud. It turned off in the middle of the night causing us to not receive important faxes. Overall, we were very dissatisfied with this purchase, and returned it 3 weeks after purchase.
Solid Printer March 8, 2010 D. Canavan Solidly constructed, good scanner, good print quality, good cost per page and excellent user interface. The wireless was a breeze to set up. The printer does make some noise as the printhead sets up and the paper goes along it's path. However, what do you expect with the rated printed speeds of 35ppm? If you want a solid printer with low running costs, simple user interface, good print and scan quality and easy wireless interaction look no further.
Wireless will drive you crazy March 7, 2010 C. Young (Henderson, NV, US) I've owned this printer now for the past six or eight months (second one, first was replaced by Fry's) I use it in my home office in the wireless config. with 5 different computers, (running either XP, Vista and Win 7)... sorry, I should say four since one of my laptops, a DELL M90 running Win Vista Home could NEVER, EVER find the printer, no matter how many times I tried loading the software. IMHO the wireless is crap! it drove me crazy. I would try to send a print job from any of the computers and it might print and then again it might not!
The printer would, for no reason, take itself off line, other times it would just lock up, and the only way to reset it was to power off and wait the four or five minutes while it ran it's self tests before it became available to use... then it would be fine... for a while.
Another problem that would crop up from time to time, was it would print multiple copies of a file... this seemed to happen only from the two computers running Vista... Sometimes,I would request one copy and get six. That wasn't too bad if it was a one page Doc. but when it was a six or ten page job, that turned into a major headache.
I called HP a couple of times, hoping for help when trying to load software on the M90... The Tech had me try a few things that didn't work... then Surprise!! He told me it was a VISTA problem and I would have to call MS. In a second call, a Tech ask me if I would be willing to let her take remote control and see if she could find the problem... SURE I said, "anything to solve the problems" Then she dropped the bomb "I'll need your credit card number, since it's $XX.XX amount to remotely connect... I told her NO THANKS... I wasn't about to pay them so they can troubleshoot there own software glitches.
When the printer worked, it was great. and maybe if I had it hookedup to one computer via the USB port, it might be a wonderful device. But in my opinion the wireless portion is JUNK! Save your money and go with Canon or Epson.
so far so good March 5, 2010 Ange (Brooklyn, CT United States) I see a complaints about the printing being faint and you should know that you can adjust the amount of ink used. The default is 50% at 75% the images are very sharp and clear. You can also specify print quality and at "best" quality the pictures are very good.
I just printed a 215 page color booklet with a color pictures on almost every page and it came out very nice. It did use up 50% of the ink in the starter ink tanks. I ordered the XL ink cartridges which are supposed to be 50% bigger. So we'll see how those work out.
But as far as the images printed, you can adjust the intensity of the colors and achieve very deep colors.
No feeding or scanning problems for me. The network set up was easy and I have two laptops connecting through the wireless router and two on the wired network.
jbticaboo March 4, 2010 jbticaboo (Ticaboo, Utah, US) havn't used it much, but so far, find it as advertised. am happy with my new printer
