A Great Printer with Some Software Issues March 9, 2010 Megan Casto (Washington State, USA) I bought an entire new computer system, including this printer. I like that it is wireless, makes copies, scans, and prints double sided.
After two weeks of use it somehow just disappeared from my computer as a printer option. I had to call the Geek Squad and have them walk me through re-installing it ... the CD setup that comes with it was for Windows Vista or XP only. I have Windows 7.
After several months of perfect use, it disappeared again but this time I called HP where they gave amazing customer service. The person was on the phone with me for over 45 minutes and walked me through everything I needed to do until she was able to take remote access. She upgraded the software for Windows 7 and 'fixed' the issue.
The printer itself is great ... I love that it will print double sided without having to manually flip the paper (though you can do it this way still). It does take forever to print double sided though - since the ink has to dry before it prints the second side. But it's an awesome feature.
I've used the copy feature several times and it is quick and simple. I haven't had the opportunity to use the scanner portion yet.
Overall I really like this printer and would definitely buy it again if I needed an other printer.
Great for the price March 5, 2010 V. Bilka (Long Island NY) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this printer at Best Buy for only 100.00 on sale. To get a wireless printer for 100.00 is incredible. I had wanted one for so long but they were still so high in price. Its a wired wireless if that makes sense. The printer must be connected to your router by a cat 5 cable at all times and there is a setup that you have to go through with your computer using a USB wire directly connected to the printer but then after that setup is finished it is 100% wireless to all the computers in your home that have wireless. The quality of the printout is great and it is very quiet while printing. The initial start up of the printer is a little noisy but that is the only time. I always thought printers always sounded like they were gonna blow when setting up for the first time anyway. Like they were gonna get up and walk away. Everybody in the house loves it. Stay away from HP laptops but you cant beat their printers. And oh yes....they say that it is compatible with Windows 7 but the software that comes with the printer will not install on a win 7 computer so you will have to download it from the HP website which is easy enough
Excellent printer with great features March 4, 2010 D. J. Bush (Salisbury, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great printer.. even does auto double-sided printing. Only drawback is the normal HP drawback with ink-jet printers.. it eats the ink up quickly, and new cartriges are expensive.
Goes to sleep and it won't wake up March 3, 2010 W. Brian Wheeler (Pasadena, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This would be a great printer except that it will go to sleep and not wake up. Nothing gets it going except for unplugging it and plugging it back in. Not a very useful feature as I bought it specifically for wireless printing and if I have to go to the other room to get it to print, its not doing its job.
I've run all software updates and there is extensive discussion on the web about this problem, but no solutions from HP (or anyone else for that matter).
Printer, scanner could be faster March 3, 2010 D. Cooper (Syracuse NY) Haven't used it a great deal yet so can't judge the durability, quality or ink usage. Have determined it would be nice if it was quicker.
